Lead Your Self
Lead with Love
Fiercely compassionate online counseling
I am a second generation immigrant/settler on Stolen Land. The rights, priorities, and concerns of Indigenous Peoples - First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and Two-Spirit - are deserving of respect for their distinct cultures, histories, rights, laws, and governments on the territories of First Nations across Turtle Island. I seek to challenge the ongoing consequences of colonization that disproportionately harm the well-being of Indigenous Queer, Trans and Two-Spirit people.
Welcome!
I’m Lee (they/them). I am a mental health professional with over 15 years of experience in community health and private practice. I work experientially, drawing on a number of theoretical frameworks, including: Internal Family Systems, Compassionate Inquiry, Queer Theory, and Intersectional Feminism.
These approaches are backed by cultural humility, evidence-based neuroscientific research, and my own lived experiences as a genderqueer, neurodivergent individual.
I love working with folks from diverse backgrounds through anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and internalised oppression (homophobia, transphobia, ableism, racism, rigid gender roles, and so on).
Values Matter
Social Justice Feminism
My therapy practice is fuelled by pushing back against power structures (capitalism, state violence, damaging medical models, etc.) that shape how clients experience life.
Queering Therapy
Queering, when used as a verb, challenges normative discourses around mental health, identities and relationships. Queering therapy opens space for inventiveness and creativity.
Empowerment
You are the expert on you. Rather than telling you what to do, I facilitate discussions and activities to help you identify and connect with the strategies you likely have within. My hope is that I can help you “lead yourself” in a loving way!
Cultural Humility
I am a second-generation white settler/immigrant. I practice ongoing self-exploration and actively work to unlearn harmful values and beliefs associated with my cultural and racial identity. I strive to strike a balance between informing myself about various histories and cultural practices, without claiming expertise on anyone’s experience but my own.
Your Questions, Answered
What is unique about therapy with Lee?
I bring joy, humour and realness to each session. I have expertise in creating and maintaining a safe space for you and any thoughts, feelings or body sensations that may come up in therapy. I am a semi-retired Social Justice Warrior, Recovering Perfectionist, and hold several memberships within the Alphabet Mafia.
How do online sessions work?
Once you schedule an appointment through the Jane App online booking portal, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a private video link. Come appointment time, grab a beverage and a figdet, then simply click the link to meet in a confidential, PHIAPPA-compliant space.
Do you accept insurance?
I operate as an out-of-network provider. After each session, I supply a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Check with your plan for coverage specifics for therapy with an MMFT (Psychotherapist) designation.
